I love scouring the internet for beauty videos in which I have compiled a good database so far; but in the 8 months of the GG launch, this video is the single most popular beauty post on the site. And I think one of the main reasons is the host of the video, Emily Noel.

Emily is a tv news anchor by day and has her own makeup blog that she runs when she is not in the news studio. She's beautiful, hard working and smart. But most importantly, she can explain how to put on makeup so clearly, honestly and easily.

Enjoy the following video Emily made on how to apply tinted moisturizer--especially handy for the summer when you don't want to have caky foundation. (yes I know she says its for winter but I love using tinted moisturizer during the summer to avoid the thick makeup appearance foundation can sometimes give)

Take away tips:

  • Depending on your skin and the season, you may or may not need to use a initial face moisturizer and even concealer after you apply tinted moisturizer
  • its still a good rule of thumb to "set" the moisturizer with a loose powder
  • pay attention to your skin and what it responds positively/negatively to, everyone is different.

In Emily's words:

"This foundation tutorial doubles as a request from several people wanting to learn some tips on makeup for dry fall/winter weather. Hope this is a workable solution for you! Remember, everyone's skin is different, so what works for me may not work for you- my best tip- observe your own skin and how it handles different levels of moisture!"
