NFL's Black Monday
One of the most stressful jobs out there is being a coach, for any sport and team. Especially when the team you are coaching is not doing good or improving at all. On Monday December 31st the day after the last week of the regular NFL season 7 head coaches, and 5 general managers were fired. The coaches fired were Andy Reid of the Philadelphia Eagles, Ken Whisenhunt of the Arizona Cardinals, Norv Turner of the San Diego Chargers, Pat Shurmur of the Cleveland Browns, Romeo Crennel of the Kansas City Chiefs, and Chan Gailey of the Buffalo Bills.
 .
The General managers that were fired were Mike Tannenbaum from the New York Jets, A.J Smith from the San Diego Chargers, Gene Smith from the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tom Heckert from the Cleveland Browns and Rod Graces from the Arizona Cardinals.
 .
Andy Reid of the Philadelphia Eagles spent fourteen years with the team since 1998, he was the longest tenured coach out of the 7. He has led the Eagles to 5 NFC championships and a Superbowl in 2005 which the Eagles lost to the New England Patriots. This would be his third losing season with Philadelphia. There were several teams looking at Reid as their next head coach since his firing Monday. But Reid has been snatched up rather quickly by the Kansas City Chiefs, though sources said he was close to going to Arizona only because his wife is from Phoenix, and still has family in the area.
 .
Ken Whisenhunt was with the Arizona Cardinals for six seasons and had the most wins as a head coach in franchise history (45-51). He also led the Cardinals to the Superbowl in 2008 which they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Lovie Smith was with the Chicago bears for nine seasons and also led them to a Superbowl in 2007 and loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
 .
Norv Turner was with the San Diego Chargers for six seasons with three AFC west titles but no Super Bowl appearances. Pat Shurmur had two seasons with the Cleveland Browns, Chan Gailey had three seasons with the Bills, and Romeo Crennel only had one full season with the Kansas City Chiefs but that resulted in KC picking first in the draft because their miserable 2-14 record.
  .
The Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills and the Philadelphia Eagles are scheduled to interview  the  Denver Broncos offensive coordinator MIke Mccoy for the head coach positions.
 .
Bill O’Brien,  head coach of Penn State University met with the Cleveland Browns this week but most NFL circles say that Oregon’s Chip Kelly  already has the Browns job lined up.

There should be eight coaches fired instead of seven, and the silent fired coach should be Rex Ryan. He had and has no control over his own team, the New York Jets looked more like the Ringling Brother Circus this season. Teammates bashing each other well mostly bashing Tim Tebow, not only that but even before the season began the New York Jets had been in the media more than the Kardashians.
 .
All season long there was quarterback controversy and on top of that they were losing, worse then before. Rex Ryan kept refusing to put Tim Tebow in as the starting quarterback even as Mark Sanchez struggles throughout this season. As a coach, you should do what’s best for the team and the organization and when you see an opportunity you take it instead of looking the other way.As a coach you explore new things and see your other options.  I feel bad for the New York Jets fans because I feel the same frustration as they do watching this season come to an end.

All in all this season has been anything but boring ,wherever these coaches end up, we will remember the accomplishments that they brought to these teams or the failures that they brought to the organizations.
