And Then There Were Four: NFL Conference Final Preview

And then there were four.  Two teams this weekend will reach their goal of making the Super Bowl while two will go home feeling unfulfilled.  Are the four teams left the best four teams in football?  Maybe, maybe not, but winning in the postseason is all anyone remembers.  Both of these games are tough calls and honestly, both could go either way.

San Francisco (-4) @Atlanta (MGM Mirage)
Over/Under 49 (Las Vegas Hilton)

After Colin Kaepernick single handedly destroyed the Packers last week, everyone loves the 49ers, but I’m not sure I buy it.  Then again, Atlanta’s near collapse against Seattle has me pretty spooked about that team as well.  And the fact that the Falcons managed to come back and win the game did little to persuade me – this was not a character builder, it was a blueprint on how Atlanta can’t hold a lead.  That said, the Falcons really do have a mystique at home, and I still think part of the 49ers’ offensive prowess is a bit of smoke and mirrors.  I’m taking Atlanta here, figuring that if the Falcons blow it, they’ll do it by less than four.  As for the over/under, I’m going over in both games.  Last weekend convinced me of that.

Baltimore (+10) @New England (BetLegends)
Over/Under 51 (Las Vegas Hilton)

Really?  10 points?  These two teams played an epic game last year that came down to a missed Billy Cundiff field goal.  They also played in week 3, a game won by Baltimore by one point.  I don’t know who wins here, but I will definitely take Baltimore and the points to cover.  That’s the best play of the weekend.  Naturally, I will also take the over in this one and I expect a ton of scoring.
