The United States women’s national team will be playing Germany in the seminfinals of the 2015 World Cup on Tuesday at 7pm EST… as underdogs?

That’s right. The USWNT is No. 2 in the world. Germany? No. 1.

But while America has cruised to easy victories after a shaky start against Australia in the opening match, Germany has looked its worst as recently as the quarterfinals, when they were outplayed by France and saved by poor shots and penalties.

As far as players to look for, Carli Lloyd has shown herself to be an asset in the pressure-packed games after the group round. But against Germany, she’ll likely play back and do a bit more defending. Which means Alex Morgan and Abby Wambach will be asked to bear more of the offense.

And what happened to Sydney Leroux last match? Was manager Jill Ellis just saving her for the last two games in the tournament? Let’s hope she gets some playing time tonight because she provides a much-needed spark on offense.

This is it. This is for all the marbles, ladies. Win and we go to the World Cup Finals. Lose… and we play for third place. And who wants to play for third place? Not me. And not you, either.

LET’S GET AMERICA.
