A recent competition held in NYC pitted various hacking companies to take a device along with $3,000 and transfer it into something totally opposite of its intended use.
Enter the slot machine that pays you in a perfectly blended cocktail rather than the boring old coins.
“The computer receives the result and sends ingredients and proportions for the winning drink to a microcontroller, which directs the bar unit, where pressurized containers store alcohol and mixers. The microcontroller uses solenoid valves to flow the ingredients in timed increments through a group of nozzles. An LED screen displays what’s just been served, along with witty lines inspired by Fear and Loathing.”
In all, the machine took about 320 hours to construct and mixes drinks perfectly according to a standard bar tenders manual.
If major casinos can figure out to mass produce this machine, they may have stumbled onto the perfect device to both steal your money but insure that you keep gambling it away.
