Clothes

Written by Blythe Brumleve | 29 July 2011

Its no secret that finding cute sports clothes is a task that proves both difficult and time consuming. I have grown tired with the endless search of finding cute, but comfy sports clothes that I can wear to games.

But I have a solution that involves about $15 in supplies that fills every need of a female sports fan.

Yes, that even includes Jaguar fans.

Victoria Secrets made quite the splash last fall when they started making cute sports clothes for women involving college, MLB and NFL teams. Problem with the NFL teams is that they only made clothes for the top 13 markets.

So naturally, teams like the Jaguars did not make the cut. But that has all changed when yesterday the full line was put on display via the Victoria Secrets Facebook page.

The main styles include a shiny jersey, a “I [heart] football”, “tailgate with me”, shorts and pants for every single NFL team and it will launch in stores on August 10th.

While I’m not really a fan of the shiny jersey, the t-shirts and pants are right up my alley. Especially digging the "Tailgate with Me" shirt. The only downfall to this line that I see is that if you dare to wear this on Sunday, be prepared to see numerous other girls wearing the same thing as you.

Fan clothing shots, Tebow garbage and even a Hawaiian style theme

Clothing choices at a football game can either be a causal t-shirt or jersey but some fans like to kick it up a notch and take their clothing choices for their team to a whole new level. After every home game, we like to feature these choices, hot or not, in our fan hood section.

Many fans bought special $5 Jaguar shirts for the "Teal Day" theme. Since the NFL still doesn't know how to make cute girl shirts, other girls including myself had to take a more creative route.

Make sure to hit the title/read more to see the rest of the awesome Game Day attire that includes Tebow themed attire...

When you think of fashion and the Olympics synonymously, you're not really sure what the two have in common what-so-ever.

The first trend to come across actually started weeks before Opening Ceremony. Stores all across Canada were quickly running out of the signature red gloves with a Canadian Mapleleaf on the hand. The gloves were in such short supply that shoppers waited in lines for hours at just the chance to buy one.

The bright red gloves may seem to stand out a bit with normal everyday attire, but those gloves were no match for some of the other Olympic fashions we have seen over the past 3 weeks.

Hit the jump to see the list of the most unique and fun fashions we saw at the 2010 Olympics

guysgirl.com supports breast cancerDuring a Jaguar game a couple weeks ago, a few of the people who we have tailgated with for years brought a bottle of pink body paint and when we were about to start walking towards the stadium, a couple friends proceeded to paint the Breast Cancer ribbon on every one's arms, legs and even faces to who ever that was willing.

When they started to paint every one's arms and faces, I thought to myself "Now why didn't I think of this!". Running a website that talks about sports and gaming from a woman's perspective would naturally be a place to show support for Breast Cancer research. And then I thought, "who do I know has been affected by this terrible disease? And how can I get the word out about it?".

Luckily, no one in my family has had Breast Cancer; not to say that someone, or myself, could never get it but it was also the realization of how much sports can really impact a community to raise awareness about life threatening diseases.

Continue reading to find out sports leagues are doing to raise awareness for Breast Cancer research.

This weekend we did a post on how to make your own Cute Sports Clothes. We received such a great response that we wanted to do a follow up article with a great video that was sent over from Tracy Collins of the Florida Times Union.

The video features Tracy and another FL Times Union writer,  Laura Capitano creating an outfit for the 2009 Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, FL. They have very creative ways of using items you can find at a simple craft store to create their outfits that are famously dubbed "The $8 Outfits". My favorite tip from the video was using team colored ribbon that was sewn into the skirt patch.

Items used included letters that spelling out the team name, fun fuzzy material to line the hems of the skirts, beads, really cute flowers and of course sparkly items like glitter and rhinestones!

Hit the jump and check out the video below for more ideas on how to create your own cute sports clothes.

baseball braceletLabor Day is here which means Summer is officially over. Its also time for the stretch run as far as baseball is concerned. If your a fan, you live and breathe for this time of the year when we fans hang on every single pitch as it may lead to the outcome of the game.

To accompany my love for baseball, I usually show my devotion in the form of clothes or accessories as a constant reminder of what is going on and the games I need to focus on.

Our Etsy find for this week is in preparation for the upcoming "Fall Classic". This baseball bracelet is made from the very stitches of a baseball cover and only costs $2.99! It looks really cool on a wrist, so much so that I couldn't pass this up and bought one for myself!

Check out the baseball stitch bracelet here.

A friend of mine recently told me that she heard that NASCAR came out with a line of shoes. My first reaction to this was (bluntly) WTF? My next step was to go to the leading sites in shoes.....Zappos did not have any in stock, which Im not sure what to attribute it to. Either they were sold out (which would be shocking) or they just do not keep them in stock. It would make more sense to me that the shoes would be on special order because of the culture of NASCAR women fans tend to be the "tennis shoe/flip flop" breed. None the less, when you can't find what you need on smaller sites, the usually reliable Amazon showed me alot of what NASCAR has to offer. The industry has their own opinion of their fans....

"40 million women are NASCAR fans, which makes it easy to believe that 77% of women feel that their sprit and attitude can make them beautiful. NASCAR footwear celebrates your spirit, your attitude and your beauty in a fun and sexy way." So you be the judge....do you love, like or hate NASCAR's brand of shoes?
