Changes include rotating D-pad and say bye to the colors.

Today Larry Herb, also known as Major Nelson, of Xbox Live revealed the newest Xbox 360 controller with a transforming directional pad.  Many consumers have complained about the 360’s directional pad since it’s launch in 2005. Finally, celebrating the fifth anniversary of the Xbox 360 (not really) Microsoft, has designed a d-pad that can be used as the original disc or can be rotated to become an elevated plus pattern.

The D-pad was not the only element of the Xbox 360 controller to be changed. This new controller features con-caved analog sticks for added comfort during longer gaming sessions. The color scheme has also changed quite dramatically. The D-pad has chrome plating which looks very nice with the grey disc behind it. No longer are the face buttons red, yellow, blue, and green. They are now alternating shades of grey.

Here's hoping you memorized the button layout by letters and not color.

This new wireless Xbox 360 controller bundled with the play and charge kit November 9th, for $64.99 USD. It will only be available in the bundle. Sixty-five dollars for a controller is a little steep, especially when new video games cost $59.99, but I’ll be buying this controller to celebrate the birth of my Xbox 360.
