GOW Exec Producer rewards Twitter followers after successful mission
When I first started playing Gears of War, little did I know that I would instantly fall in love and there would be no turning back as I became it turned me into a console gamer. The next step was to buy Xbox Live immediately to compete with players from around the country and play GOW’s co-op campaign. Gears of War 2 had some problems coming out of launch, most of which were in the Match Making and True Skill system. The ranking system underwent some changes, giving players 100 levels to rank up. To get to rank 100 the legit way a player must accumulate nearly seven million experience points in the online multiplayer. This is no easy feat to accomplish, especially considering there are tons of games releasing every year that will no doubt take your attention away from getting to this 100 level mark.
Realizing the difficulty in reaching that high of a mark, Epic Games has made the 100 rank more accessible by giving players permanent double experience and experience points in Horde Mode, Custom Matches, and Social Matches, as well as Ranked Matches. The halfway point to rank 100 is rank 81, yep, by the time you get into your 80s; you’re only halfway there. Occasionally, Epic Games, will give an increased multiplier in their XP system during special weeks or weekends, like the recent 6x XP during the week of E3, and the 8x XP event during the July 4, weekend.
Last weekend, Executive Producer of the Gears of War franchise Rod Ferguson, gave his Twitter followers a mission. This mission was to get him more Twitter followers before the San Diego Comic-Con. The terms of the mission was to get to over 4,000 followers, and he would divide his followers by 500, and give Gears of War 2 players anywhere from 8x-10x XP. Little did Rod Fergie, know he created a monster in his North Carolina home.

Days later, and almost to 12,000 followers in Twitter, Mr. Ferguson has a promise to keep.
Starting this Thursday, July 22nd, 2010, at 12:30pm eastern Epic Games, will open the flood gates and unleash a twenty times experience multiplier on all Gears of War 2 game types. This event will go on until Sunday night, July 25th, at 8:00 pm eastern.
On a personal note, I would like to thank everyone on Twitter and IGN.com for posting an article about what Fergie was doing for the San Diego Comic-Con that helped Rod Fergie get to his goal that will reward so many that are obsessed with the franchise. Most of all, a big thanks to thank Fergie for being such a fantastic Executive Producer for the Gears of War franchise.
So gamers go on and get your wings and unlock that achievement!
