White Collar, USA’s comedy-drama of intrigue and suspense about a former high end thief who teams up with the FBI to help catch others of his ilk, returned on January 17, 2012 with a resolution to its cliffhanger episode Countdown.
Our anti-hero, Neal Caffrey, had been given an ultimatum by his pal Mozzie - take off with him and the treasure they’d stolen or stay behind with Peter Burke and continue working with the FBI. Meanwhile, Peter’s wife Elizabeth was kidnapped by Keller - leaving Peter and Neal with a different sort of ultimatum.
In Checkmate, we see the resolution. Peter, Neal and Mozzie reunite to save Elizabeth, but in order to do so, have to team up with Keller to steal the treasure out from under the noses of the NYPD. The resourceful Elizabeth, meanwhile, engineers her own escape, just in time for Jones and his team to find her.
Did Checkmate live up to the promise of the Countdown cliffhanger?
And whose style works best - stuffy Peter? suave Neal? classic bad guy Keller? Maybe thief-retiree Mozzie?!
