How do you know if your team will win? Simply put, you want the best players on your team, and having the best team will win (most of the time). It is the joy and pain of sports in general. Fantasy sports are no different in this case. The better your team is, the better chance you have to win.
The first thing you have to accept when looking at your fantasy baseball team is that it is NOT perfect. With 10 teams, you are going to have a few positions on your team where you don’t have great players and you are going to have to get lucky or attempt a trade .

What a typical fantasy baseball lineup will look like

The most common issue people have with fantasy baseball is that you login, look at the team roster page and have zero clue what to do from there. Our newest addition to the GG family, Blair Bennett aims to show us all how you can get a grasp on managing your fantasy baseball team in the first part of this two part series.
First things first: Learn the rules! Learn the basics!
If you are gona play, then you have to know how to win. Assuming you are playing the most common form of fantasy baseball (10 team, 5x5 scoring) let's go over the difference between ROTO leagues vs. Head 2 Head leagues to hopefully give you some basics that will make playing fantasy baseball fun, and maybe even help you win.

It’s not baseball season yet, but it is fantasy baseball season and all of the major sports sites are already running public league drafts. Here’s a few basic draft strategies that will help you maximize the value of your picks as you go along.
Have a Plan
You don’t have to do hours of research to have a good draft, but doing it totally on the fly won’t work either. Break the draft into stages: your top 3 picks are the most important ones. These are the big stars for your team.
Target a group of players you want and figure out which ones will go the earliest. Familiarize yourself with the players ranked 6-10 at each position. These are your mid-round picks. Pick out the ones you think will be the best producers and then prioritize in order of how highly ranked they are. Lower ranked players you like will last longer than higher ranked ones.

If there is one thing that can make the ease of the last day of the 2011 regular season a little better, it’s knowing someone in the Rays front office, actually A LOT of people in the front office thought this hideous mascot was a good idea.
A stoned good enough idea to take a drawing of a cat, add a gold chain with a backwards baseball hat and call him a DJ. DJ Kitty. For a team that is called THE RAYS.
What does a cat have to do with a sting ray? I repeat, WHAT DOES A CAT HAVE TO DO WITH A STINGRAY? Yep, still doesn’t make sense even when I yell it.
But he has a backwards cap and a gold chain. So that makes him hip and relatable right? Right? Ahhhh F it. Just give me whatever the Rays marketing department is smoking. Clearly, it’s good.
Kate Upton is everywhere these days and that includes promotions for the upcoming MLB season. This time around, Ms. Most Amazing Breasts On the Planet is showing some MLB pros how to use their fingers properly with a PS3 controller while playing the new MLB2k promo commercial.
I’m pretty sure most of you have stopped reading this after the words “Kate Upton” so carry on to watch the new commercial featuring the girl you will soon see everywhere.
There are only a few of those who can say they have skydived into a sports stadium but the Red Bull Air Force created a video a couple years showing exactly what it looks like to skydive into Petco Park.
With football season now over, this video is just an excuse to talk baseball until pitchers and catchers report.

Note: During the final week of the year we are sharing some of our most popular posts during 2011. Hope you enjoy this time with your loved ones while we show off the articles you enjoyed the most this year.
Today is one of the greatest days of the year. It’s the day we can finally say “Play Ball”, watch Championship Ring Presentations and know that we are witnessing is a real baseball game that counts in the W's and L's column.
It’s Opening Day and to celebrate, myself and fellow blogging buddy Matt Yoder of Randall Simons Sausages and Awful Announcing sat down to create quite possibly the most intricate comparison of MLB teams and who their equivalent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle character would be.
That’s right. The classic 80’s and 90’s franchise that entertained so many children contains enough characters for every single MLB team with many of the matchups seeming to fit in perfect unison.
We are starting this off right with the original theme song to TMNT followed by the MLB teams and their respective character comparison...

That rainbow barely got done throwing up on what is now the Miami Marlins new logo before someone went and made a theme song for the team. When DC Music Nation actually quits blabbing and starts the music, it’s almost like listening to your neighbors fight, you don’t want to listen to it but you find yourself putting your ear up against the wall.

Major League baseball has been a whole ‘lotta moves the past few days by agreeing to a new labor deal, moving the Astros from the NL to the AL, adding an additional wild card playoff spot to each league and becoming the first professional sports league to start blood testing for HGH.
All of these major key issues were agreed upon with little or no strife, much to the grief of fans who are suffering through a NBA lockout and the NFL fans were stressed to no end when it just a mere thought that professional football would not be played.

Baseball wives, a spinoff of the other “Wives” shows VH1 has is set to premier on November 30th and has the likes of Anna Benson (wife of Arizona pitcher Kris Benson), Tanya Grace (ex-wife of retired Chicago’s Mark Grace), Chantel Kendall (ex-wife of Kansas City’s Jason Kendall) and Brooke Villone (wife of big-league veteran Ron Villone).
Listen, I know many fans out there really enjoy a bunch of rich women fighting over absolutely nothing, but these kind of shows are only watched to make yourself feel better about your own life.
Nevertheless, this one actually intrigues me because baseball is one of my favorite sports, but I’m not sure it intrigues me enough to watch a full season.
