Many of you have probably heard of the hacker group known as Anonymous who is responsible for taking down websites like Department of Justice, CBS and the Playstation Network costing millions upon millions of dollars in damages.
But what you haven’t heard is the back-story on why this group dubbed as “Hackivists” got started and what they are aiming to accomplish by taking out major websites. Which is what the new documentary “We Are Legions” aims to show you.
Hit the title/read more to see the preview for the new Anonymous “We are Legions” documentary....
In the documentary that premiered at Sundance, Anonymous is shown as the group that aims to protect freedom of speech, freedom of the internet and anti censorship in an age where governments have the power to block websites at ease and try to create legislation to black out any website for so much as linking to another site suspected of piracy.
The documentary is quite fascinating just by the previews alone. And in an age where the people seem to have less and less control of the world they live in, its pretty “Robin Hoodish” of these guys to try and steal power from the rich and give to the people.
While the aim of the documentary is to shine a positive light on the group, many people would also call them criminals. Let’s just hope the majority of this group continues to do these “Robin Hoodish” things without a select few crossing the line.
