Don't have time wash your hair? These products can help

Every girl has those mornings when you wake up and you simply do not feel like washing, blow drying or styling your hair.

Perhaps you stayed out late at a game or had a nice movie night with too many cocktails, either way, there are products out there to help rid your hair of the oil, smell and dirt to get it looking as good as possible, without the hours of work.

Helper #1 TRESemme' Fresh Start Dry Shampoo

I recently picked up this product and tried it for the first time; "Lemmie Jus Tell You" its the best dry shampoo I have ever tried. Most dry shampoos leave a funky smell and tint your hair a grayish color. This product leaves a fresh scent, adds a bit of volume and is super easy to apply.

All you have to do is segment your hair, spray, let it dry for 1-2 minutes and brush out. For super dark hair, there is a slight "lighter color" that appears where you spray it but it wasn't that noticeable.

My only gripe about the product is that one can, when used properly, will only last about 3-5 uses. Therefore, if you have a habit of not wanting to wake up early to style your hair, be prepared to spend about $5 per 4 uses.

I found this product at Target and was available in both Oily/Straight hair formulas as well as another for Curly Hair.

Helper #2 Aerosol Hair Spray Trick

This is my tried-and-true method for ridding my hair of excess oil. The first time you do it can be a little time consuming (about 20minutes) but once you learn the ropes,  you will have fresh hair in 10 minutes tops.

Basically all you need is a can or aerosol hair spray, a natural hair bristle brush and a small towel.

You are going to want to work in sections of your hair line, hold the can of hair spray 6 inches from your head and spray the roots of your hair in this section from front to back. After you spray, immediately pick up the towel and wipe the hair spray off the whole section then brush through. Repeat this over your whole head as you move from one ear to the other in sections.

How this works is the alcohol in the hairspray soaks up most of the oil in your hair, leaving your hair looking fresh without any hint of discoloration that dry shampoos can give. As a bonus, I like to follow this routine with a volume boosting root spray and my hair is good to go for at least 2 more days.

Helper #3 Use Baby Powder or General Dry Shampoo as a Last Resort

I don't want to knock baby powder too much because it has been my "de-greasing" method for over 10 years until the discovery of the hair spray trick noted above. While baby powder and generic dry shampoo work, they leave a pretty noticeable color change at the root of your hair.

To use baby powder to rid yourself of oily hair, you will want to work in sections just like the Hair spray trick. Segment out your hair, lightly dust the baby powder onto a thick boar bristle brush and lightly apply to the hair roots by tapping the brush to your hair from front to back. You will want to make sure you brush your hair very thoroughly to avoid patches that look like you have gray hair. I recommend this method if you have your hair pulled back as the baby powder does add some volume, but discolors the roots of your hair.

If you have blond hair or a lighter brown hair color, this method would still be suitable for your hair, but us dark haired gals should use hair spray instead.
