Who doesn't love a good sunny day beach cruising with a bunch of friends during the summer? But a big problem exists especially if you live in the southern states is the constant, and sometimes brutal, summer heat.
You're normal makeup will never stand a chance in 90 degrees and 80% humidity. So what's a girl to do?
Solution: Keep some of these items handy and you will be counting your blessings you got yourself prepared.

Apply powder makeup as your base
You don't want to put on too much make up at all but starting with a lighter powder creates a barrier between your normal summer time makeup. Soaks up any initial oil/sweat before you actual makeup. Finishing off with a loose powder also soaks up any oil before it can wear your makeup off
Carry oil absorbing sheets with you at ALL times
Every Spring, I buy 3 or 4 packs of Clean & Clear Instant Oil-Absorbing Sheets and stick one in the car, office, purse and at home. At the first sight of sheen, I whip out the sheets to attack any oil asap, preventing makeup melt. These are an absolute summer must!
Invest in a good setting spray
Though I have never tried a setting spray, I discovered this product all over the message boards as being "the best product on the market" to keep your makeup to stay put. The product is called "All Nighter Long" and is made by Urban Decay. The spray is supposed to block any melting, sliding, caking, cracking, excess shine, fading blush, drooping eyeshadow and lip color disappearance for 16 HOURS!! The product also boasts that you can wear this during Summer and in "get your Jacuzzi on". Based on the reviews at sites like Sephora and Macys, it sounds like it really does work. I'm going to bite the bullet and try this one out for myself (be on the lookout for a review), but for $30 a bottle, it better work!
Save time and buy a lip stain
I can't say enough how much I love a good lip stain and Avon makes the best lip stains. Using a lip stain in the summer gives you the color pop, without the risk of lipstick on your teeth or melting lipstick. Use a quick swipe of chap stick over the lip stain and you're set for hours. If you can't find an Avon lady handy, Revlon makes a terrific lip stain as well (though a little messy).
Day at the beach? Keep your makeup cool
This item was recently featured on the Today Show and it makes perfect sense. Everyone notices a difference in their makeup composition when its been sitting in car. (pretty much the same thing its doing on your face--melting!) But these bags called "cool it caddy" are insulated and kept in your freezer. When you have a day by the pool or anywhere in hot temperatures, throw your makeup in this bag and your makeup melt problem is solved!
Less is best and follow liquids with powders
In the Summer, less is best rule applies to almost everything you wear and to follow any liquids (eye or face) with a loose powder after application. To avoid a heavy foundation, take some of your face lotion and add some foundation to it. This will create a very light base. Follow that up with some loose powder and blot with oil wipes throughout the day. If you already have a tinted moisturiser, you can learn how to apply it here. Another product (though I have never tried) was featured on the Today Show and apparently, fans swear by the Makeup Forever product line that swears their makeup is water proof. If its anything close to waterproof, its definitely worth the purchase.
*Bonus Tip For Your Hair in Summer Time Humidity
The Aussie 12 Hour Anti-Humidity Hair Spray is simply the best anti humidity spray that I have tried and it works great in Florida. The makers seem pretty serious about their anti humidity claims because right on the bottle (before the recent redesign) it stated:
"Keeps your hair frizz free for up to 12 hours. Even in Florida, in your Grandparent's car with no a/c on".
If you put something like that on a bottle, I'm pretty inclined to buy but good bonus is that the product works great!
